Notification of Works: Closure of North Lake Road for level crossing maintenance

Brookfield Rail wishes to advise that North Lake Road will be closed at the railway crossing near the Lakes Centre Shopping Centre for two nights in late April for level crossing maintenance.

North Lake Road will be closed between Bibra Drive and Omeo St on:

  • Friday 28 April between 9pm and 5am the following day
  • Saturday 29 April between 7pm and 9am the following day

We ask that motorists take this into account for any travel plans during these times.

Brookfield Rail Regional Engineer Simon Topp said the company had worked with City of Cockburn to select a time that would have the least impact on morning commuters and general traffic.

“Brookfield Rail and the City of Cockburn have discussed all other alternatives to closing the road, however as the maintenance requires a 14-hour window for completion of the work, a Saturday night to Sunday morning time slot was chosen to minimise disruption to traffic,” Mr Topp said.

“Every effort will be made to ensure the work is carried out in an efficient manner.”

Detours will be in place, with drivers recommended to use nearby railway crossings at Kwinana Freeway and Spearwood Avenue. The suggested detour is via Hammond Road, Beeliar Drive, Spearwood Avenue and Discovery Drive.

Access to the Lakes Centre Shopping Centre will still be available from a southerly direction.

Further information is available on the City of Cockburn’s website.
